Indi awakes, laying on her back, eyes opening only to see a blood red, apocalyptic-looking sky. The clouds a darker, more intimidating red.
She looks around to see a large… hole? in the ground. It had the same purple and green swirls alike the one she had jumped into only a few moments ago, except that one was mysteriously floating in the sky.
A muffled, tired-sounding, “where are we?” comes from a familiar voice. Indi sits up and turns around to face Cloe, who is gasping, looking around whilst rubbing her knee.
“I don’t know,” Indi says while looking at the black, rotting trees. “I thought places like this only existed in comics.”
Cloe nods.
“Wherever we are…” Matty’s shaky, nervous voice speaks behind both of the girls. “I hope Max is here.”
This time, both Cloe and Indi nod.
Cloe gets up and starts shaking Jacksen awake. With no sign of waking, Cloe raises an eyebrow at Indigo. She nods and walks over, “so THIS is why he’s always late?” Cloe chuckles.
“JACKSEN. KAYDEN. PATAR.” Cloe furiously screams in the boy’s ear.
He wakes, obviously quite startled.
“NOT THE MIDDLE NAME.”
Him and Cloe start yelling at each other like an old married couple while Matty laughs and Indi roles her eyes. She’s focused on one thing: find Max and get the heck out of here.
Technically that’s two things but…
Quite abruptly, it started pouring down rain. Lightening struck a near by tree, yet it didn’t catch fire. Instead it suddenly vanished. completely gone, as though it had never been there.
Cloe, mid scream, stopped. Everyone’s faces went pale, eyes widened. Everyone exchanges concerned looks and Indi starts to walk forward, deeper into The Dead Forest as loud bangs of thunder crept into her ears.
She stops and looks into the dark woods ahead, and mumbles,
“Let’s go.”
